The department is at the forefront of research in cardio-pulmonary physiotherapy, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and translational science with the 

Focussed Research areas including:

  • Advances in Airway clearance techniques
  • Specific and evidence-based exercise training in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Innovations in respiratory muscle assessment and training device
  • E-media supported tele rehab , a feasible and effective mode of training and care delivery in health promotion  

Expanding Research Horizons: Incorporating general medical and surgical conditions, including renal and hepatological impairments, post-abdominal surgeries, and solid organ transplantation.

Knowledge Dissemination: Faculty and students contribute to high-impact journals and conferences, ensuring that research findings influence global scientific and clinical communities.

Funded Research Projects

  • Departmental faculties are actively involved in the ICMR-funded multicentre trial, “Yoga Care for Heart Failure” in collaboration with the Department of Cardiology, SRIHER (₹50 lakhs project) focused on heart failure rehabilitation
  • Ms. Sridevi. S, Associate professor works on a research project funded by the Department of Science and Technology on, “To design and develop a respiratory device to improve respiratory function in pulmonary conditions” amounting 6 lakhs.
