In alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)—the Sri Ramachandra Faculty of Physiotherapy, SRIHER, organized a special programme titled “Breathe and Balance: Yoga for Healthy Living” on 11 June 2026 as part of the celebrations for the International Day of Yoga.
The programme commenced with a welcome address highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and harmony between the body and mind. The session emphasized the role of yoga as a simple yet effective practice for achieving a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The resource persons for the programme were Dr. Archana, Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, SRIHER and Art of Living Facilitator, and Ms. Viji, Administrator, Pro Vice Chancellor’s Office, SRIHER and Art of Living Yoga Teacher. They shared valuable insights into the therapeutic and preventive benefits of yoga and guided participants through various yogic practices, including breathing exercises, stretching techniques, and relaxation methods that can be incorporated into daily life for improved health and stress management.
Participants actively engaged in the practical yoga session and demonstrated great enthusiasm in learning and practicing the techniques introduced during the programme. The session highlighted the significance of adopting yoga as a holistic approach to enhancing flexibility, respiratory health, concentration, emotional well-being, and stress resilience.
The programme successfully increased awareness regarding the health benefits of yoga and provided participants with practical tools to support their overall wellness. The initiative reinforced the value of yoga as an accessible and effective means of promoting holistic health and healthy living.
A total of 54 participants, including students, staff, and faculty members, benefited from the programme.
